Outrage Over Jacob Zuma’s Plan for Pregnant Teens

South Africa’s former president Jacob Zuma left many of his compatriots outraged after sharing that he would exile pregnant teens to Robben Island.

Robben Island is where some of the infamous prisons in South Africa are located. At some point, even, the late anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela was detained on Robben Island. But that’s by the way.

Teen pregnancy is prevalent in South Africa, and from the look of things, the former president is exasperated with the problem. So he thinks a tough penalty will be able to address it.

Zuma is leading the MK Party in the 2024 election and has spelt out his party’s policies, which include building a university on Robben Island for pregnant teens to attend school.

Only, the idea appears like banishment to most people and they have been lampooning the former president for it. Some dismissed him as semile and some said he should have no place near the presidency again. You can check out the clip below.

Zuma was formerly a chieftain of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) on which platform he ascended to the presidency years ago. But in-party fights had seen him exploring his political destiny elsewhere. The question is, will South Africans vote for his party this year?
