Paul Mashatile Set To Take Over From Mabuza As South Africa’s Deputy President

A while back it was reported that David was stepping down as deputy president of South Africa but was prevailed upon to stick along for a while so the ruling African National Congress can chop for a replacement.

At the time he made his intention to resign public, many were surprised and even shocked because he was not exactly the target of an advocacy for resignation. President Ramaphosa was the one who had been asked to resign by South Africans, allegedly over corruption and the Phala Phala Farm scandal.

Also, when it became public that Mabuza was stepping down, Paul Mashatile’s name popped online as a potential replacement since he is the deputy president of the ruling ANC. But a couple of voices mounted an opposition of sorts with the claim that his position in the ANC does not automatically mean he would become deputy president in the event of Mabuza’s resignation.

But what’s playing out now? Something entirely different. Paul Mashatile is said to be set to become the deputy president of the Rainbow Nation, with Mabuza handing in the gloves of that position.

At the time of writing, he had not been officially confirmed by sources say that would happen in a bit. In that case, you might want to stay tuned.
