It has been a difficult week for the amapiano community in South Africa, following the sudden death in a car crash of genre champs Mpura and Killer Kau. Prince Kaybee’s attempt to reflect on their deaths had led to controversy online.
In a tweet, the “Fetch Your Life” star made it clear that the fact that something happened does not mean that it was meant to happen. He insisted that most things are manmade and people need to anticipate harm.
Some Twitter users who saw his tweet thought it was sensitive and some insinuated that he was implying that the songsters who died in the crash were drunk while driving.
In reply to a fan who had implied Prince Kaybee had insinuated the dead amapiano artistes were drunk when they had the crash, Prince Kaybee made it clear that it breaks his heart that anyone should think that way. He insisted he neither mentioned anyone nor did he describe anyone as drunk. All he spoke of was the need for a safe space for all.
Some of his fans made it clear they understood exactly what he conveyed in his earlier tweet. They urged him to ignore those who elected to misread his earlier tweets.
