Rolf Harris, Disgraced Entertainer, Dead At 93

After a decades-long sojourn in the entertainment industries in the United Kingdom and Australia, Rolf Harris passed away on Wednesday, May 23 at the age of 93.

A man of many parts, Harris was a musician, an artist and a comedian and combined all offices effectively. In the years of his power, his face and voice were all over the place, from his native Australia down to Great Britain and other parts of the world.

With a career spanning more than five decades, Harris appears to be in a league only a few attain. The problem is, he fell into disgrace along the line after he was convicted as a sexual offender.

That dent in an otherwise brilliant and eventful career would remain with him until he was announced dead yesterday from neck cancer. He had reportedly been contending with that affliction for a while.

Since the news of his death broke, his fans on social media have been sharing their best recollections of him and his performances and what he meant for the entertainment industry.

Harris, who previously worked for the BBC, was made an MBE in 1968 and advanced to OBE in 1977, finally clinching the CBE in 2006. Details of his funeral will be out shortly.
