Check out the outfits your faves wore to the 28th Annual South African Music Awards, Makhadzi’s much-talked-about performance, and everything else.
One of the most anticipated events in the SA music industry is the South African Music Awards. The popular Awards show has been around for many years and has recognized the efforts of Mzansi’s creative and most talented artists, producers, etc.
The 28th Annual South African Music Awards held last weekend for two evenings ( Saturday, August 27th, and Sunday, the 28th). The event took place at the Sun City Superbowl in Northwest. It was hosted by Lawrence Maleka, Nandi Madida, Mpho Popps, and Robot Boii. And yes, the hosts served.
Everyone who hit the red carpet served looks. It was basically a runway, and the looks were all to die for. We might as well start off with the Queen of the show, Makhadzi. It is surprising how the “Ghanama” star went from tweeting about not being recognized by the show (getting encouragement from Cassper Nyovest) to becoming the most talked-about person at the show.
The “Ma Gear” hitmaker was one of the evening’s winners. She showed up in a beautiful black gown perfect for a Venda princess. The singer was all smiles as she made her way to the venue. Later on, she hit the stage in usual Makhadzi fashion, with dancers surrounding her, and gave an electrifying performance. She took home the “Music Video of the Year” award for “Ghanama” with Prince Benza.
Fans were not impressed that she had to perform for what they called “10 seconds”. According to them, she’s the one they tuned in to watch. They were also not impressed with the sound, which did not seem to bother the singer. She gave the performance of a lifetime.
Other celebs who dominated the red carpet include Anele Zondo, Boity, Emtee, A-Reece, and more. Check the photos out below.
