Senzo Meyiwa’s Friend Madlala Testifies In Murder Case

It’s been years since he was killed, but Senzo Meyiwa is still very much alive in the consciousness of ma y South Africans, or, as some would say, his ghost continues to walk tall as the legal battle to fish out his killers continue.

A new angle popped in the case when one of his close friends agreed to testify at the trial, which has dragged on for years. Tumelo Madlala was in court on Tuesday and testified as a state witness. He went into some detail even without prodding from the state advocate George Baloyi.

According to him, on the day of the incident, he had arrived in Spruitview from KwaZulu-Natal to meet Senzo Meyiwa. From there, they had proceeded to a home, which he later learned belonged to Kelly Khumalo’s mother. Kelly Khumalo was Senzo’s girlfriend at the time and initially one of the suspects in the case.

Along the line, while narrating the incident, he asked if he could take a break. The hearing was adjourned briefly. And when it resumed, he continued, narrating that an armed man had entered the apartment demanding money and phones. He said another man was found in the lichen, pinned to the wall by Senzo Meyiwa. After that, a shot rang out.

Soon after the shit, he heard everyone screaming Senzo Meyiwa’s name.
