A big surprise played out over the weekend as Cassper Nyovest and AKA, the biggest rivals in South African hip hop, gave each other high five as their team battled another team (made up of musicians from a different genre of music)/.
AKA and Cassper Nyovest are both in the same team (hip hop) in what has been dubbed a celebrity football match. Other teams include maskanda, amapiano and gqom.
When the match was announced last week, Cassper Nyovest’s name was not part of the match. But AKA’s was. Perhaps given the rivalry between the two, the organizers decided to omit the name of one of the players to create a big surprise.
In this, they have certainly succeeded, as Mzansi went into raptures seeing the two on the pitch and even high-fiving each other. From the clip, which you can see below, AKA had initiated the whole thing.

The two may have had a good time on the pitch, but does this translate to the end of the beef? We may never know. But it’s a good sign that the two may one day quash their beef. That might be good for the culture – or so their fans are saying.
