Amazon Launches In South Africa In 2024

Retail giant Amazon will be launching in South Africa next year (2024). Already, the company’s site (Amazon.co.za) is live, giving customers an idea of what to expect from the South African branch of the company.

Amazon was founded in the United States by Jeff Bezos and has grown into one of the biggest retail companies worldwide, with billions of dollars in revenue. While the United States serves as the company’s headquarters, the company is diversifying into other regions.

South Africa is Amazon’s latest bet. How it navigates and scales the South African market it left to time. But then, there is palpable excitement in the company coming to the Rainbow Nation.

According to the company, starting October 17 (yesterday), independent sellers could register their businesses on the company’s site.

Robert Koen, general manager of the Sub-Saharan Africa region for Amazon, noted that the company looks forward to launching in the South African market and giving entrepreneurs and other businesses the opportunity to grow their businesses on the Amazon platform

By the way, Amazon is not the only company looking to launch in South Africa, though. Reader’s House, an initiative by two bookish brothers, is looking to launch there as well. 2024 certainly holds a lot of promise.
