Anele Wants To Buy Mandela’s Baseball Jacket

Media star Anele Mdoda shares plans to buy Nelson Mandela’s swaggy baseball jacket.

Everyone is talking about the upcoming auction of Nelson Mandela’s personal items, which his daughter is in charge of. SAHRA recently lost a two-year battle to block the sale of the items. In reaction to their loss, Zizi Kodwa, Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture said,

“It is important for us to record and tell our stories to deepen our heritage. The legacy of former president Mandela and many others who have contributed to getting South Africa to where it is today as a free, democratic and cultural diverse nation cannot be forgotten. It is therefore critical to support the intervention by SAHRA for the sake of maintaining the country’s rich heritage.”

Some of the things to be auctioned include Mandela’s ID issued in 1993, letters from prison, his walking stick, drawings he sketched while in prison, a gift from former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, etc.

Taking to her Instagram page, media star Anele Mdoda shared a photo of the late president wearing a New York cap and jacket and wrote, “Makaziwe, imma need this jacket at the auction.”

Guernsey’s said the money from the auction would be used to build a memorial garden at the late South African icon’s gravesite in Qunu.

“Importantly, proceeds from the event will be used for the building of the Mandela memorial garden surrounding President Mandela’s Qunu, South Africa, final resting place.”
