Community heartbroken because Eastern Cape poet and singer, Nomfusi Potelwa, was tragically killed in her home in Dutywa.
Residents of Dutywa woke up to tragic news of the passing of poet and praise singer Nomfusi Potelwa who was tragically murdered in her home.
Sport, Recreation, Arts, and Culture MEC Nonceba Kontsiwe called for justice to be served while condemning the shocking incident. Kontsiwe said, “Nomfusi was a talented artist who used her gifts to uplift and inspire others. Her untimely death is a great loss to the arts community, and we must do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Sabcnews.com reports that Dutywa police spokesperson Captain Siphokazi Mawisa confirmed that a murder case has been opened for investigation. Mawisa said, “Four unknown males entered her house at Govan Mbeki township in Dutywa and shot the deceased in her upper body. She tragically passed away at the scene.” Residents of Dutywa have called for the police to find the killers and bring them to justice.
