George Floyd: The Weeknd Donates $500K To BLM Advocacy

The Black Lives Matter advocacy is gaining momentum, supported by several artistes, including The Weeknd.

This advocacy, which is currently trending with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, gained resonance following the death, allegedly by asphyxiation, of George Floyd. The cop Chauvin took a knee on Floyd’s neck until he died.

Floyd’s death once again opened America’s racial fissures, with hundreds pouring into the streets in protest. The cops have arrested several protestors but are unable to silence the #BLM advocacy. In fact, some cops have even joined, clamouring for justice for Floyd.

Those unfortunate to be arrested in the storm of the Black Lives Matter advocacy have got a lifeline from The Weeknd. The “Blinding Lights” singer, who is of Canadian provenance, has made a donation of $500k for the BLM.

He shared information about his donation with his 22.9 million Instagram followers and urged fellow artistes to donate to the cause as well. The songster desires others to make a donation, whether you have deep pockets or not.

By the way, other artistes are donating to the cause as well. Last we checked, Drake, another Canadian, had made a donation of $100k. He shared the receipt with his fans.

When the dust finally settles, will race relations remain the same?
