A while back, local sangoma (traditional healer) Gogo Skhotheni announced to her compatriots that she would be exploring her DJ dreams and bid fans to look out for her. The announcement elicited mixed reactions from South Africans at the time.
Controversial and self-appointed president of Black Twitter Chris Excel had mocked her, and even Gogo Skhotheni’s adversary herself, Gogo Maweni, had joined in the fray and mocked her too.
Well, it appeared those were not enough to truncate Gogo Skhotheni’s dreams. She went ahead with her plans as a DJ. And from what she recently shared about her first gig, it was a big success.
She confessed, however, that she was scared at first. But then, she received massive support from her fans, who turned up from far and wide to support her gig. She even patted herself on the pat, stating that she “killed it” and the responses to her gig were wholly positive.
With such good reports, it seems that Gogo Skhotheni the DJ is here to stay. Whether her sangoma duties will now take second place is unclear, but best to believe that Mzansi is watching and will have something to say in a bit – not forgetting Gogo Maweni, of course.
