Change is constant not just in life but in make-belief as well. Maybe we have just found out a new example in the recent changes to the South African soapie “Umkhokha: The Curse.”
According to a recent announcement from the entertainment commentator. Jabulani Macdonald, there have been some important changes to the cast, with Kwezi Ndlovu replaced by Kwanele Mthethwa. Kwezi will now take on the character of the actress she replaced.
Until her replacement, Kwezi was a fan favourite, having established herself, and been seen, as a good fit. So her replacement with another actress has led to some misgivings in some quarters, with some fans seemingly upset that she should be replaced.
Some could not be bothered, however. They are only looking forward to how Ndlovu’s replacement with perform. perhaps then – and only then – would there their thoughts on the changes be made known to the public. Whether the changes will affect the numbers is unclear at this point.
“Umkhokha: The Curse” is one of the most popular South African soapies out there, with a dedicated following. So the reaction to the announcement of changes to the cast is in no way surprising. When viewers are invested in the flicks they watch, they don’t stay silent amid changes.
