Master KG Clinches New Spotify Record

It has often been said that it takes one thing – a move, a meeting, a song, etc. – to change the destiny of someone for the better. And that is true with South African music producer Master KG, who is currently the most streamed South African artist on Spotify.

Master KG currently has 3.8 million monthly listeners on the platform, making him the most streamed on the platform – a personal record.

The songster owes that impressive record principally to “Jerusalema,” a song for which he collaborated with Nomcebo Zikode. For context, before the release of that song, Master KG had released a couple of other hits, including “Skeleton Move.”

However, none of them had the energy and global appeal of “Jerusalema,” a global hit that travelled as far as China and Switzerland, making the songster an international music figure rubbing shoulders with the likes of AKON and David Guetta.

Also, at the time of writing, “Jerusalema” has reached over half a billion views on YouTube, where it was uploaded two years ago – another African record.

Fine music might be dropping from South Africa, but you rarely see them making the numbers of “Jerusalema.” Well, for Master KG, it appears like this is only the beginning.
