More Drama As Warring Prince Asks Court To Declare King Misuzulu’s Coronation Illegal

It may have been months since King Misuzulu ascended the throne of his ancestors, but the controversies over his claim to the royal stool continue to bubble, with warring princes fighting to throw him out of his royal robes and take the robes for themselves. The case has been in court for a while now.

King Misuzulu was crowned king of the Zulu in a lavish ceremony in 2022 despite the controversies over his eligibility back then. That’s despite the government recognising him as the new king and spearheading the coronation.

While his coronation elicited joy in sections of the royal lineage and even among South Africans, some were miffed by his coronation and condemned the government for being in a hurry to crown him when the case was being contested.

Prince Simakada, one of the royal princes, is challenging King Misuzulu’s claim to the Zulu throne – a case heard recently by the Pretoria High Court. The prince is demanding that the coronation be declared unlawful and himself be declared as the legal king of the Zulu nation.

The warring prince has also taken South African president Cyril Ramaphosa to court over the coronation. South Africans are certainly keen to see the end of this.
