Sparky Xulu Lands A Role in ‘A Soweto Love Story’

Popular Mzansi actor Sparky Xulu has landed a role in Netflix’s upcoming Rom-Com with a twist.

Netflix has huge plans for South Africa this year. The streaming giant has just given fans a sneak peek into their upcoming film, “A Soweto Love Story.” SurgeZirc SA writes it is a homegrown romantic comedy film set to release on 14 February.

The play revolves around a character named Bongekile, played by Duduzile Ngcobo, “who dreams of finding a makoti to bring love and companionship into her all-boys household.” Her three unmarried sons are challenged by the Ngubeni matriarch to get married by the New Year if they want to inherit the family home.

Lunga Shabalala, Ray Neo Buso, alongside Sparky Xulu, play the brothers (sons of Bongekile portrayed by Duduzile Ngcobo) “who must navigate the unpredictable landscape of mjolofontein” as they try their best to find brides in order to keep the house.

The film’s synopsis reads, “When her three grown sons show no signs of settling down and starting their own families, a mother uses the coveted family home to entice them into doing the right thing – the first to get married before the New Year wins the home.” This is certainly something to look forward to.
