Wendy Williams’ Son Says Her Dementia is ‘Alcohol-induced’

Embattled former TV host Wendy Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr. has revealed his mother’s dementia is due to her alcoholism.

Fans of Wendy Williams were heartbroken while watching the TV host’s recent Lifetime documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?” The star also spoke about her primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia diagnosis. Wendy’s son Kevin Hunter Jr. recently opened up about his mother’s diagnosis. He revealed that her dementia is “alcohol-induced.”

The 23-year-old said, “I was able to really learn more about things going on with my mother internally. [Doctors] basically said that because she was drinking so much, it was starting to affect her headspace and her brain. So, I think they said it was alcohol-induced dementia.”

According to a report by Just Jared, the former TV host first learned about her brain damage in 2019 when she entered a Florida rehab facility. However, she did jott receive the official dementia and aphasia diagnosis until 2023.

Healthline writes that Alcohol-related Dementia “is a type of cognitive impairment that occurs as a result of heavy alcohol consumption over a long period.” Decision-making, emotional control, physical balance, memory, and concentration issues are among the symptoms. Fans have expressed concern for the iconic host and sent her love on social media.
