Falz Biography

We now come to the turn of Folarin Falana popularly known with the stage name Falz. Falz is a Nigerian Rapper, Songwriter and Actor.

He began his career while in Secondary School after forming a group called “School Boys” with his friends before his professional career as a musician started in 2009.With albums like “Wazup Guy” (2014) “Stories that touch”(2015), “27” (2017) and “Moral instruction” (2019).

Falz has been able to prove that he is one of the top Rap artiste in Nigeria. Today taking a look at his best songs, here are the Top 10 songs by Falz

1. SOFTWORK
This song talked about living a lavish lifestyle while being on a soft work. The song which is a track off his “Wazup Guys” album in 2014 was beautifully rendered by Falz with a lyrics which later undoubtedly became a street Anthem.

The singer also did justice to the song with a visual which was directed by Mex and the produced by Sess. The visual featured cameo appearances from Instagram-famed Oluwakaponeski popularly known as Mama Tobi. The song which garnered a lot of awards is a sure hit and we are loving it. Check it out.

2. LA FETE
This song saw the rapper go the French way . This song had a new kind of rhythm to it with the rapper rendering so many beautiful lyrics and the chorus taken in French.

Falz who has always displayed his French proficiency went all out to make the song a hit. The song produced by Demsa came out with a visual which was directed by  Clarence Peters.

The song which has received so many award recognition as been featured on major Nigerian Music charts. This song is a hit and we are loving it. Check it out.

3. SOLDIER
The song featured Nigerian songstress “Simi”. This song talked about a love conversation between a soldier and his adamant lover. The song was romanced with raps from Falz and soft music by Simi amidst a beautiful tune.

The song was later done justice to with a visual directed and shot by Clarence Peters. The song is translated into a short film which lasts for over 14 minutes and sees Falz playing the role of a soldier with Simi being “Bae” by force. As it seems, Simi is upset with Falz consistently pestering her as his lover.Check it out.

4. WEH DONE SIR
This song  talks on corrupt Leaders at large. This song showed Falz’s ability to combine comedy and rap music together. He spoke on corrupt politicians, pastors and Individuals.

The song was released with a visual which showed Falz trying to make decisions on wether to follow is good conscience or the bad one. He talked about Individuals living fake life styles on the social media.

Weh done sir which also translates to””well done sir”is the result of the indignation and re-purposing of the English language in Nigerian pop culture, irrespective of the inelegance that proper speakers of the language might see it as.This is definitely a hit and we are loving it. Check it out.

5. HYPOCRITE
This song features Vocals from Nigerian Singer Demmie Vee. This is a track off his 4th studio album “Moral Instruction” in 2019.

The album which has received many social acceptance talks about the situations in Nigeria with a Little fusion of lyrics from Nigerian Veteran Musician late Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s songs. This song was released under the BahdGuys Entertainment record with exclusive license to Jungle Entertainment Ventures.

The song speaks on hypocrisy at length and how deceit is the order of the day. The visuals which also featured Cameo appearances from Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw was directed by Prodigeezy. Check it out.

6. SWEET BOY
This song talked about a league of extraordinary gentlemen he formed and happened to be the president of the said group. The track is a single off his “27” album in 2017.

The phrase which started off as a joke on social media, turned out to be a full blown movement of confident, courteous and well-groomed men with multiple cellular devices, apparently known as the Sweet Boy Association (SBA).

Falz is the association’s fly and encouraging leader.”Sweet boy, fresh guy,” he raps in the Iyobosa ‘ProdiGeezy’ Rehoboth directed visuals which featured cameo appearances by Nigerian Singer Adekunle Gold and Banky W among other Nollywood actors. Check it out.

7. THIS IS NIGERIA
This song is the singers Nigerian version of the Track by American Singer Childish Gambino’s “This is America” which he released on Nigeria’s Democracy day (May 29) last year.

Falz’s rap style is usually comedic with a lighthearted touch to his lyrics and songwriting. His songs in pidgin English with an exaggerated Yoruba accent and videos wearing large spectacles without glasses and his skits on social media have endeared his act to Nigerians.

But just like “This is America” showed a different side Childish Gambino, “This is Nigeria” shows Falz deliver an important piece of social commentary, often with dark humor to highlight many of the worst socio-economic issues in today’s Nigeria, particularly for the country’s leaders and was also endorsed by US hip hop legend Sean “Diddy” Combs. 8. TALK
This song talks about the social vices affecting the Nigerian society at large. The song which is a track off his 2019 “Moral Instruction” album where he channeled the Fela spirit in him.

“Talk” as the title implies, was talking about the Nigerian Economic and Political system. The song produced by Wande Thomas  was released with a visual directed by Iyobosa ‘Geezy’ Rehoboth which saw Falz as a game character which was controlled by picking different icons which represented the social vices in Nigeria.Check it out.

9. KARISHIKA
This song features Nigerian Indigenous Igbo Rapper Phyno. The song talked about men and their encounter with demanding women which was signified with the word “Karishika”.

Karishika being a famous witch character from an old Nollywood movie. The track also featured a comic appearance from Nigerian Female Comedian Chigul. The song produced by Sess is a solid Hip Hop collaboration and we are loving it. Check it out.

10. CHILD OF THE WORLD
This song saw him tackle issues of rape, HIV/AIDS and suicide. This song addresses the pervasiveness of sexual abuse against women and the harmful effects it can have on a victim’s life.

The visual which featured cameo appearances from Ex Big Brother Nigeria Housemate Bambam and Nollywood actor Toyin Abraham did full justice to the lyrics of the song. Check it out.
