2 Charged In Killing Of Hip-Hop Pioneer Jam Master Jay

A bullet through the head on the night of 30 October 2002 sent Jason Mizell, professionally known as Jam Master Jay, to the grave. Since then investigators have tried to crack the murder and bring the murderers to justice. In vain.

Now, twenty years after, investigators have reported progress in their investigations. They have charged two persons in the killing of the hip hop pioneer. Yesterday 17 August 2020, federal authorities announced they had charged Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr., for the murder.

Ronald Washington is yet to be arraigned, but Karl Jordan Jr., pleaded not guilty at his arraignment yesterday 17 August. If convicted, both reportedly face a minimum 20 years in prison.

Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr., reportedly broke into Jam Master Jay’s studio at about 7:30 p.m on 30 October 2002 and gunned him down. The two were said to have been aggrieved when Jam Master Jay threatened to exclude them from a “a multi-kilogram, multistate narcotics transaction.”

Jam Master Jay was said to have received a fresh supply of cocaine from a supplier in Maryland. The two men who gunned him down were part of the deal, but after a disagreement, Jam Master Jay threatened to cut them off.
