Some were gold, some were dross. There’s no better way to sum up the recently held BET Awards during which some entertainers went home with award plaques, while others went home with nothing.
South Africa’s Elaine had been nominated in the Viewers’s Choice: Best New International Act category alongside six others but lost to Bree Runway of the United Kingdom.
In contrast, her Nigerian counterpart and “African Giant” Burna Boy won an award in the Best International Act category, beating the likes of Wizkid and Diamond Platnumz, and affirming the message of his Grammy-winning album that he’s “Twice As Tall.”
In other news, “WAP” rapper Cardi B had used the opportunity of the BET Awards to let the world know she’s pregnant with her and hubby Offset’s second child.
