Adidas Originals has once again joined forces with Wales Bonner to introduce their latest Fall/Winter 2023 collection, which continues the designer’s examination of sports fashion. The new lineup breathes new life into adidas’ historical sportswear, presenting a series of sophisticated reinterpretations of classic designs. The collection features off-field attire that includes a sophisticated knit ensemble in a rich mahogany brown and football shorts crafted from a sand-toned nylon, accented with adidas’ signature Three Stripes in a contrasting hue.
Transitioning through decades of style, from the 1970s to the 1990s, the collection showcases key items such as a light nylon tracksuit in pale sky blue with reflective details and a black nylon top accented with a striking green knit collar, all available in sizes for everyone.
The collaboration also sees a fresh iteration of the iconic adidas Originals Samba shoes, reenvisioned by Wales Bonner. This season’s footwear features luxurious faux pony-hair finishes with gum soles, presented in leopard print and a soft tan. Another series in the footwear line highlights suede textures with distinctive contrast stitching.
In a notable shift from past campaigns, this season’s promotional imagery moves away from scenic backdrops to a more polished studio environment. This new approach maintains the essence of the adidas Originals by Wales Bonner narrative, focusing on the simplicity of the designs against a minimalist setting. The campaign features a diverse group of models, including skateboarder Na-Kel Smith, and is complemented by short interviews and dynamic clips, with playwright and philanthropist Jeremy O. Harris facilitating the conversations.
The eagerly anticipated adidas Originals by Wales Bonner Fall/Winter 2023 collection will be available for purchase at adidas V&A and Sandton, on the adidas South Africa website, and at Shelflife stores starting Wednesday, November 8.
