When it comes to Nigeria and South Africa, there is no end to the rivalry. The clash yesterday between the two countries in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) proved this once again.
Of course, we all know that amapiano music is a South African thing. The South Africans created it, and mostly South Africans have been taking the genre to the ends of the earth. But it appeared Nigerians wanted to rile up a few, so they made some wild claims about the genre.
Ahead of South Africa’s clash against Nigeria yesterday group of Nigerian supporters could be seen speaking to a journalist. Among others, they claimed that Nigeria made amapiano famous and took the genre to the world.
While the group routinely agreed that South Africa started the amapiano genre, it invested that Nigeria perfected it and took it to the global stage. You can check out the clip below.

The claim seemed to have riled up many South Africans. The Rainbow Nation is currently reeling from its loss to Nigeria. The match ended with a penalty shootout, which Nigeria won 4-2. With this loss, South Africa will not fight for third position at the AFCON
