The late Anele Tembe’s family honours her memory with a library because she loved to read.
It has been three years since Anele Tembe’s tragic death and Mzansi still wants answers. On Sunday, April 14, Tembe’s father, Moses, sat down with SABC News Senior Reporter Chriselda Lewis and spoke about his daughter and his family’s grief.
“For the family, we are still feeling so much pain, we are still feeling so much anguish out of the passing of our daughter Anele. In fact, I can tell you our hearts remain so shattered into pieces by the passing of Anele but having said that, by the grace of God our hearts are still beating,” he said.
Moses Tembe revealed that they built a library in their daughter’s memory. He said they wanted to do something special in Anele’s memory for her to always be remembered. The South African reports that the interview took place at a library at the Durban Girls’ College where Tembe matriculated in 2017.
Her father also revealed that she loved to read and was certain about what she wanted out of life. “She knew what she wanted in life. As a family, we reflected on what we could do to keep her legacy and spirit alive. Because the library was always a happy space for her, we could not find a project more appropriate than doing this library,” he said.
