Ariana Grande’s Granny Nonna, 98, Makes Billboard History

Ariana Grande’s 98-year-old granny Nonna makes Billboard history as the oldest person to chart on the Hot100.

Ari’s Nonna has become the oldest artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, at 98. Nonna broke the record with her feature on her granddaughter’s new single “ordinary things” which debuted at No. 55 on the chart. She is also credited as a co-writer and singer on the track which serves as the album’s final track.

Grande’s new album “Eternal Sunshine” launched at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned two number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

As the new record holder, Marjorie replaced the late Fred Stobaugh, who was 96 when he did it in 2013 with “Oh Sweet Lorraine,” performed by Green Shoe Studio featuring Jacob Colgan. The song charted at No. 42 and spent a week on it.

Ari revealed to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that she stumbled on the voice note when she wasn’t sure how to end the song. The song concludes with Marjorie talking about her late husband, Frank Grande. She says,

“And when he’d come home and I’d see him. And when he’d come home and I’d see him, when he first gets off that train, it was like God almighty arrived. It was like seein’ daylight. I mean, I could’ve packed up and left a million times. You know? It’s not that we never fought. You can overcome that. You know? It’s very easy. And as I told her, never go to bed without kissin’ goodnight. That’s the worst thing to do, don’t ever, ever do that. And if you can’t, and if you don’t feel comfortable doing it. You’re in the wrong place, get out.”
