Bail Hearing In AKA Murder Trial Resumes On Monday

The quest to unmask the killers of South African rapper AKA continued this week, with three out of the five accused applying for bail. The other two were yet to proceed with their application at the time of writing, so the bail hearing continues next Monday.

The five accused are among those fingered in the assassination of AKA on February 10 last year. The songster was shot dead at point-blank range alongside his former manager Tibz as he stepped out of Wish Restaurant on Florid Road in Durban.

The killing reverberated in the music universe at the time, with his compatriots calling for the unmasking of those who killed him.

Well, the police had swung into action soon after, leading to the arrests of suspects, with two others currently facing extradition from Eswatini, where they were said to have fled months before the hit.

Well, the hearing for the bail application took place on 14 March at the Durban Magistrate’s Court, with only three of the accused using the opportunity. It remains to be seen if the other two will use their bail opportunities next Monday.

By the way, before the arrests were made, some South Africans had lost faith in the ability of the police to unravel the case, But the arrests led to a surge in optimism.
