October’s Very Own Drake has gifted his pal DJ Khaled a diamond chain as a token of their friendship and the success of their recent collaborative tunes “Greece” and “Popstar.”
The chain bears the OVO insignia, an owl, connected to a lion head and a key, which are symbols long associated with DJ Khaled.
The neckpiece was exactly the same design as the one Drake wore on DJ Khaled’s “Popstar” video. “Popstar” was certified platinum and peaked at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100.
DJ Khaled was impressed by the gift from Champagne Papi and thanked him in two Instagram posts. One is just a picture of the neckpiece. The other is a video of him unveiling the gift and commenting on its quality. You can check both out below.
Gifts as tokens of successful collaborations are not novel. Certainly Drake isn’t the first to do this. Nor would he be the last. Recently, Cardi B gifted “WAP” collaborator Megan Thee Stallion a custom Birkin bag following the success of their “WAP” song. Like “Popstar,” “WAP” topped charts on release.
