South African music producer DJ Obza has decided to leave Open Mic Productions, the records label that he called home for a while alongside other notable voices in SPOuth African music. He is the latest to leave the record label, following Makhadzi’s exit a while back.
Details of his exit have not been given but it appears it is less dramatic, unlike that of Makhadzi, who had to issue a statement about the contract she signed and how it was unfavourable to her.
Anyway, for whatever reason, the news of his exit from Open Mic Productions has been greeted with approval by many fans, some of whom were like, “it’s about time.”
DJ Obza released a statement about his exit, noting what he created while signed to the record label, as well as the productive partnerships they had. He counted himself fortunate to have been a part of the record label and learned from it as well.
