Fans Have Raised More than $4 million For Damar Hamlin’s Toy Drive

Damar Hamlin’s fans have raised more than $4 million in support of his toy drive.

According to reports, over $4 million has been raised in an online fundraiser started by the Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Donations poured in just hours after the NFL star suffered cardiac arrest during a game on Monday.

In a statement by The Bills, Damar’s heartbeat was restored while on the field, but sadly, he was sedated and remained in critical condition. The game between The Bills and the Bengals was suspended by the NFL. Fans of the 23-year-old Hamlin have shared condolences and get-well messages all over social media.

They also donated to Hamlin’s fundraiser, which he started in 2020 before he was picked in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft. The Chasing M Foundation ran a campaign aimed at purchasing toys for children affected by the pandemic in McKees Rocks, Pa. This is where Hamlin grew up. He wrote on the foundation’s GoFundMe page,

“As I embark on my journey to the NFL, I will never forget where I come from, and I am committed to using my platform to positively impact the community that raised me.” The fundraiser topped over $4 million in early Tuesday afternoon. This is credited to over 151,000 gifters.
