AKA: I Never Hated Burna Boy, He Is Still A Champion

AKA confesses that does not hate Nigerian singer, Burna Boy.

Award-winning South African rapper, AKA, has come out to refute the claim that he hates Nigerian singer, Burna Boy.

Late last year when the xenophobic attack was ongoing in South Africa, AKA and Burna Boy had a rift because of the issue.

Burna Boy was recently nominated for the recently completed Grammy Awards, he however lost the Grammy award to the singer Angelique Kidjo. Some people assumed that AKA would be happy for Burna Boy’s loss, following their disagreements.

The rapper cleared everyone’s doubt by stating that he doesn’t hate Burna Boy and the Nigerian singer still remains a champion despite his loss.

The Fela In Versace hitmaker said:

I never hated Burna Boy. All I did was stand up for my country. I think it’s time to move past this narrative. It’s tired. Like I said, even a nomination is a huge achievement.

Late last year, when the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa were a major point of concern, a clash had occurred between AKA and Burna Boy, where the Nigerian singer threatened to beat AKA up whenever he visited South Africa. Both parties made comments that were unsettling.

Burna Boy has since been denied all opportunities to perform in South Africa. Late last year 2019, it was reported that the Nigerian singer would be performing in South Africa, AKA demanded an apology from Burna Boy or he wouldn’t be forgiven. Burna Boy was to perform in the Africans Unite concert alongside artists like Kwesta, Busiswa and Jidenna but somg groups of  South Africans were against the idea of him entering South Africa without an apology and it has since been that way.
