It looks like the amapiano revolution in South Africa is quietly truncating Mampintsha’s gqom hustle, and he isn’t having it.
Yesterday 17 July 2020, on Instagram, “The Gentle Don” shared a meme of a fellow destroying piano keys with an axe. He said that was him at the moment. The post elicited great mirth from his fans and followers, who peppered it with the laughing emoji.
Mampintsha released his “Bhut’Madlisa” album days ago, and it shot to number 3 on the album’s chart almost immediately. The first and second positions were taken by recent albums by Kabza De Small and Bucy Radebe respectively.
Could it be Mampintsha’s recent album triumph made him think he can stop amapiano’s unrivalled march? How possible could this even be, given that it is the amapiano king Kabza De Small’s “I Am The King Of Amapiano” that holds the number spot on the album’s chart?
Whatever the case, it appears Mampintsha can tell a good joke and should as well extend his hustle into the world of jokes as well. Oh, why not?
