Mawhoo Share Detils On Her Adopted Stage Name, Relationship With Okmalumkoolkat

If you have been wondering what the meaning is behind the name Mawhoo, you have got an answer already – from none other than the South African singer herself. She recently gave clues on how she came about her stage name, as well as the role of another musician in her growth.

The songstress spilt everything regarding her stage name during a recent interview with Everything SA Music. By her own account, “Mawhoo” is a Japanese word which means “Magical.”

The reason for the name, she pointed out, was that she used to use a Japanese makeup style fir her eyes. The rapper Okmalumkoolkat, also a Durbanite, was instrumental in her having the stage name by which she is famous today. She knew him from Durban.

Well, it might have been a while since she got her stage name but Mawhoo isn’t looking back at all. In fact, at the moment, she is known as one of the leading figures in amapiano music in South Africa.

More like, she has been around for a while and paid her dues in the same period. By the way, she is the first singer Kabza De Small unveiled as part of his one-man show coming up in Mozambique.
