“Music Is My Life” – Ladysmith Black Mambazo Founder Joseph Shabalala’s Documentary Drops 28 August

August 28 is just three days away, but there is a great fever of expectancy around that day. Why? The reason is simple, a documentary about Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s founder Joseph Shabalala is slated for release then.

In just three days, viewers will get to take a dive into the life and artistic universe of one of the most iconic figures in South African music. Yes, Joseph Shabalala had propelled his all-man group into the aristocracy in South African music.

Even now, although dead, Joseph Shabalala’s legacy is still very much alive, exemplified by the group’s continuing appeal and Grammy wins. There are many groups in South Africa, but most cannot claim the appeal  and prestige associated with Ladysmith Black Mambazo

The imminent doccie is titled “Music is My Life,” and it actually would show just what music meant to Joseph until his death not too long ago. The doccie will start airing on the local network SABC1.

By the way, the planned release of the documentary comes on the heels of another from another notable figure, albeit in the kwaito music space – Zola &. The muso plans to give fans a glimpse into his past artistic universe through a doccie. Are y’all ready?
