It has been raining tributes for the late South African singer Zahara who died on December 11 following a short medical emergency. One of those who dropped tribute in her honour was President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa’s decision to write a tribute to the singer showed the impact she had on South Africa’s music scene before her death.
In his video tribute, the president described Zahara’s death as unfortunate as it robbed South Africa of a great talent. He described her as one of the great products South Africa has produced in the arts, while also noting he is deeply saddened by her demise.

Zahara was reportedly in good health only days before she was rushed to the hospital in a medical emergency. The onset of her illness was so sudden that some members of her family believed she was bewitched. Some even assumed that she was poisoned.
However, the prevailing opinion online is that she died from liver complication which was the result of alcoholism.
