August 16 isn’t far away, but there are great expectations around that date already. On that day, Black Entertainment (BET) Television would unveil the biopic of the legendary Kwaito musician Mduduzi Edmond Tshabala, popularly known as Mandoza.
Titled “Nkalakatha: the Life of Mandoza,” the biopic will give insights into the life of the musician, from his early days to when he became an icon in the South African music industry.
The musician might no longer be alive, but if he should be able to see the biopic from wherever he might be, he would most likely smile over it because it illuminates his accomplishments in life and his contributions to South African music.
From being a musician no one knew, he had sung his way to the top and imprinted his name in the hearts of music lovers across the country. And now, although dead, he already has a secure place in the history of South African music.
In South Africa, there is understandably great excitement over the imminent biopic. It would be like seeing the musician traverse the face of the earth once again.
