Rashid Kay Explains The Difference In Songwriting And Ghostwriting

Rashid Kay has explained the difference between songwriting and ghost writing.

You may have noticed how several artists in the SA music industry are often called out for not crediting the people who write music for them. This usually happens in the SA Hip Hop genre. A lot of Mzansi artists have very huge egos and would rather leave fans thinking that their hit songs were written by them.

Rapper, Kid X recently announced plans to begin ghostwriting songs for his fellow rappers. This spurred the popular Rashid Kay to share his thoughts, and help people understand the difference between a songwriter and a ghostwriter.

He simply revealed that songwriting involves being credited for your work, while ghostwriting involves not being credited. Also, we hear that a lot of Mzansi’s ghostwriters sign NDAs which makes them not be able to talk about writing some of the hits that they have.

Songwriting, if you wanna be credited. Ghostwriting is when the author remains anonymous,” – Rashid Kay
