Royal AM: Khabo Zondo Demoted, Dan Malesela joins Joins Club

It has often been said that one man’s blessing is another’s misfortune. Anyway, this might have played out in the South African league recently.

Khabo Zondo was appointed head coach of Royal AM, taking over from John Maduka, and demoted almost as soon as he was appointed, with the PSL side hiring Dan Malesela as one of the co-coaches. Around the same period, the club had signed three new players.

Khabo Zondo’s initial appointment elicited surprise and displeasure from a section of the football universe, with critics noting that he has not coached in the DStv Premiership for 13 years.

The club management apparently listened to the critic and demoted Zondo, making him one of three coaches leading the club.

About his demotion, however, Zondo has said nothing. So he might have no objection to that but looking forward to continuing in his new role, guiding the team alongside other coaches.

By the way, club owner Shauwn Mkhize has bought a new club in the female league.
