SIU Responds As Arthur Mafokate Uses Seized Lodge For Valentine-Themed Event

There appears to be an air of defiance around Arthur Mafokate following the seizing of one of his properties by the authorities, who accuse him of misusing funds belonging to the National Lottery Commission (NLC): The kwaito veteran hosted a Valentine-themed party in the seized property.

The move surprised many South Africans and rubbed others the wrong way, forcing them to ask how that was even remotely possible. This made the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) clarify that the move was not against the law.

However, trying to dispose of the property by selling or letting it out and transferring ownership would have amounted to breaking the law. But the musician-turned-farmer didn’t do that.

The recent incident comes just days after Arthur Mafokate had posted a semblance of a tribute to the slain rapper AKA, noting how together they had fought xenophobia. That post irritated some South Africans, who accused him of trying to use AKA’s death for a publicity stunt.

Anyway, since the SIU has stated that he didn’t break the law by using the property for a Valentine-Themed event, then the muso is good to continue living his life without hindrance – until the outcome of investigations into how he had allegedly spent money belonging to the NLC.
