Thandiswa Mazwai Roasts Zizi Kodwa Over Speech At Zahara’s Funeral

South African singer Thandiswa Mazwai was unimpressed with minister of culture and the arts Zizi Kodwa’s speech at Zahara’s funeral, and she made her displeasure known.

Zahara, famous for several songs including “Loliwe,” died on December 11, allegedly as a result of liver failure induced by alcoholism. The family never said anything in that direction, though, merely stating she complained of bodily pain.

Anyway, it was a big hit on the South African music industry. No one saw it coming and the nation was understandably sad about her demise. So South Africans honoured her in words and other ways at her funeral and memorial services.

Zizi Kodwa was one of those who showed up at Zahara’s funeral. There, he delivered a speech. Thandiswa Mazwai shared the speech while also referencing the minister’s earlier announcement about creating a new award for the arts. She mocked the exercise as another avenue to waste money.

Many South Africans agreed with her verdict about the minister. For unknown reasons, though, she still went ahead to delete the tweet she made about the minister. But the message has already been passed and South Africans saw it.

By the way, Thandiswa is the elder sister of the controversial poet Ntsiki Mazwai.
