The 2023 Crown Gospel Music Awards Winners

In every award event, some will be gold and some will be dross. In other words, there will be winners and there will be losers. This year’s Crown Gospel Music Awards was no different. Not everyone who hoped or expected to win eventually walked home with an award.

It was a moment of celebration and goodwill, as those who won the awards filed out to collect their plaques and deliver short acceptance speeches as they pleased. For those who won, it was another moment to reflect on what they did and why they should keep at it.

It has been said, after all, that one success might follow another. While that may not turn out to be the case with those who went home with awards, it does not contract the reality of success usually following another.

The list of winners of this year’s Crown Gospel Music Awards  encapsulates the following:

  • Best Jazz Song: Swazi Dlamini.
  • Best Acapella: Yithi Laba Gospel Singers.
  • Best Rap: Vovee and LG.
  • Best Community Outreach: Letia Mawelane.
  • Best Producer: Khaya Mthethwa for 3C Live Album.
  • Best Newcomer: Sibusiso Nzima and Soso Maholwana.

With the winners finally announced, it is back to the drawing board for those who didn’t win. In a couple of months will come another chance to give the award a shot.
