Ma-E is one of the veteran rappers in South Africa and is much respected for his craft. In a recent list released on social media, however, he was dumped among the worst rappers of all time in South Africa.
In a recent post on social media, the podcast everything South African Music released a list of the 15 worst musicians in South Africa of all time. And Ma-E was 14th on the list, just below Zulu Boy and just above Witness The Funk.
This “insult” irked Ma-E, and he had to address it in a tweet, pointing to his role in the evolution of Mzansi hip hop and what he contributed from the outset. He pointed out that South African hip hop would not have existed without his contributions and that of Ntukza (No. 7 on the list.)
Another person who was equally miffed with the list was Emtee. In a tweet, he made it clear he’s on the case of those who disrespected the rapper. He made no specific threats, but it was clear that he was unimpressed that Ma-E’s contribution to South African rap was disrespected in that post.
Anyway, it remains to be seen what Emtee, who didn’t make the list, would do if he should encounter the ESAM hosts.
