Cassper Nyovest – Khotso

“Khotso” is one song for which Family Tree rapper Cassper Nyovest would rather co-opt no guests. And the reasons are obvious, explainable. “Khotso” is Cassper and all about him – in a sense.

The titled song references first Cassper Nyovest’s late brother and then Cassper Nyovest’s first born son. Yeah, Cassper had named his son Khotso in late 2020, after his late brother.

“Khotso” might be the name of the song, but it is no soppy lullaby and not something to spit out soon after. On the contrary, the song easily flies the rainbows of fatherhood, leading the listener, especially one who has fathered kids, through memorable paths.

“Khotso” is a memorable track and one of the songs to check out from the celebrated hip hop musician’s recently released “Short and Sweet 2.0” compilation. That body of work features several buzzing voices in South Africa’s amapiano universe.

Although Cassper co-opted none of these voices on “Khotso,” he has a winner in this song nonetheless. So, no qualms, mate.
