DJ Tira, Big Zulu, Other Celebs Mourn IFP Leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s Death

It’s been raining tributes since the passing of the patriarch of the Buthelezi clan, Prince Mangosuth Buthelezi, the former leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party. He passed on soon after turning 95.

Until his death, he was a prime minister in the Zulu royal household and also one of the oldest princes in the Zulu nation. He was a contemporary of the late Nelson Mandela and was also part of the anti-apartheid struggles of decades ago.

The news of his death might not come as a surprise to many given his age, but it understandably provoked condolence messages from across South Africa. From celebs to ordinary folks, almost everyone has something to say about the man and his place in South African life and politics.

Among those who have reacted to his death so far are Big Zulu, one of South Africa’s notable rappers. The Inkabi Records boss wrote in isiZulu, likening the late politician to a big tree that has fallen. He also thanked Buthelezi for his service to South Africa and wished him rest in peace.

For his part, DJ Tira took to Facebook, where he bid the political icon to rest in peace.
