A clip of American rapper Wiz Khalifa jamming to a number by local artists DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU has caught the attention of South Africans, and they couldn’t be more excited.
Of course, it is one thing when a local artist plays or vibes to music by another local artist. But it is a different ball game when a rapper of Wiz Khalifa’s standing does that.
So this explains the sheer excitement over the clip of the Africans vibing to a song by two South Africans. In a clip currently making the rounds online, the American could be seen vibbing to DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU’s song “Banyana.”
South Africans loved and they made this known in response to the video. Most of them were like, “amapiano to the world,” indicating the dominance and appeal of amapiano music in South Africa and how it has managed to transcend the local scene. You can check out the clip below.

Indeed, amapiano is the in-thing in South Africa at the moment. Also, DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU are among the dominant players in the genre back home. Their “Banyana” tune is also much loved back home.
If nothing else, Wiz Khalifa playing the number shows its appeal.
