Squid Game Star O Yeong-su Found Guilty Of Sexual Misconduct

Golden Globe Award-winning actor O Yeong-su has been found guilty of sexual misconduct.

According to recent reports, South Korean actor O Yeong-su, best known for starring in the first season of the hit Netflix series “Squid Game,” has been convicted on charges of sexual harassment. The conviction, which happened on Friday, saw O Yeong-su being handed a suspended prison sentence.

The 79-year-old actor earned praise for his performance in the record-breaking series “Squid Game,” for which he won a Golden Globe. The Guardian writes that the Seongnam branch of the Suwon district court sentenced him to eight months in prison. He is also suspended for two years and will undergo 40 hours of attendance at a sexual violence treatment program.

O Yeong-su denied the allegations after he was charged with two counts of sexual harassment in 2017. He was accused of inappropriately touching a female actor, hugging her, holding her hand, and kissing her cheek. He said he held her hand while guiding her across a lake.

“I apologized because she said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it, but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges,” he said.

He also told reporters he planned to appeal the verdict as he left the court. He has seven days to appeal, or the ruling will be upheld.
