The wins continue for South African actress Thuso Mbedu as she snaps another award at Gotham Awards 2021. She was honored in the Outstanding Performance category for her work in The Underground Railroad.
A delighted Thuso Mbedu had shared the good news on her Instagram channel. She had woken up to several missed calls from her manager. And for once in her life, she thought she had missed her pickup.
To her delight, however, her manager had called not to inform her that she had missed her pickup (which she hadn’t) but to let her know that she had won the Gotham Awards in the Best Performance category.
The win, according to Thuso, was humbling. She had thanked and congratulated the cast of The Underground Railroad because, in a sense, her win was also their win. You can check out her post below.
By the way, before her Gotham Awards triumph, Thuso Mbedu had also been honored at home with a GQ Magazine award. She was crowned Woman of the Year.
With these string of wins, the actress, who’d modeled for the Barbadian singer Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty line, looks set to end the year on a grand note. Some solidarity.
