Sound Sultan Biography

Sound Sultan is no doubt one of the legends of Afrobeats in Nigeria. Olanrewaju Fasasi  known popularly by his stage name Sound Sultan is a prolific rapper, singer and songwriter in Nigeria. He is regarded as one of the pacesetters of modern hip hop music in Nigeria.

Sound Sultan who launched his musical career by winning numerous local talent-hunt shows, as been a to go to artiste in the music industry. He became known in the industry upon the release of his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000.

After independently releasing other singles and featuring in hit songs of other artists, he was signed by Kennis music.Under Kennis, he released four albums. By 2007, his contract with the label expired and he partnered with Baba Dee to start Naija Ninjas, a parent organization for a record label.

After starting as a rapper, he has worked in different musical genres from R&B to Afrobeat, soul and Nigerian Fuji music. He has said that artists shouldn’t be judged on the genre in which they perform, that the important thing is the message conveyed in the music.

Over his time of debut he has won himself major award recognition and gotten ambassadorial role from top brands in Nigeria. With albums like Kpseeeeeeew (2001), Naija 007 (2007),Back to The future (2010) just to mention a few, Sound Sultan has proven himself to be a topmost artiste.
