South African football side Mamelodi Sundowns have just recorded a milestone, but this time not in the field of play. Instead, the Tshwane giants have secured a deal with EA Sports that would see the team appear in FIFA 23 game.
That addition would make the South African side the first and only African team to appear in the latest release of the FIFA game, FIFA 23, billed for September this year. With this partnership, EA Sports is now the South African side’s exclusive sports video game partner.
The partnership is currently generating great excitement in South Africa, not just from fans and locals but from within the club itself – and for a good reason. First, being included in the game gives the club a chance to reach international audiences that may otherwise not be conversant with them.
With this partnership, any FIFA 23 player worldwide can readily locate the team in the game and maybe use the team in a match against an opponent.
Commenting about the new milestone, Tlhopie Motsepe, Chairman of Mamelodi Sundowns FC, noted that the team is delighted to be a part of the EA Sports roster of teams and a part of the latest edition of FIFA 23.
