Zakes Bantwini Set To Release Final Album, “Abantu,” And Retire From Music

The news of a notable musician planning to retire from music is not something that will sit well with many fans. But that’s the reality many Zakes Bantwini fans will have to contend with right now.

Zakes Bantwini has been on the music scene for almost two decades. Now he feels like he has fulfilled his music ministry, and it’s time to take a bow.

His company, Independent Media Group Africa, recently issued a statement noting that the songster will release his final album, “Abantu,” in November. However, before that time, the songster is expected to announce his retirement at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

On release, the “Abantu” project would be a follow-up to his immensely popular “Ghetto King” album.

The announcement of a last album and retirement from music has met opposition from his fans, who insist that he still has a lot to share with them yet – after all, several musicians his age are still active and dropping killer bars.

Interestingly, the Instagram post announcing his last album as his retirement from music has been taken down at the time of writing. This might suggest several things, including that the songster may not be retiring as earlier announced.
