Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka serves as the Deputy Public Protector of South Africa. She has served as a Special Advisor to the Ministers for the Department of Public Service and Administration, including the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Finance, respectively.
She focused specifically on the areas of administration, legal, legislation and policy development, strategy, compliance, and governance. She also served on the Committee of Enquiry, probing the state of affairs of municipalities across Gauteng. Adv. Gcaleka has also served on various boards.
She has also worked as a lawyer and a prosecutor, first starting her career with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) as an Aspirant Prosecutor in 2004. She specialized in gender-based violence and human-trafficking. As of August 30, 2023, Gcaleka was set to be appointed the Public Protector of South Africa.
