Biography

Shudufhadzo Abigail Musida is a South African model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2020. She became the second titleholder from the province of Limpopo (after Bokang Montjane). Musida is the first title holder whose first language is Venda. She was selected to represent South Africa in Miss World 2022. She is also the first bald woman to win Miss South Africa.

Musida is a dedicated advocate and spokeswoman for mental health awareness and empowering women and children. She made the top 40 in the Miss World 2021. Shudufhadzo is the author of a Children’s book titled “Shudu Finds Her Magic.” The book was published by Jacana Media in six different languages, including Afrikaans, English, Sesotho, Venda, Xhosa, and Zulu. The book also features illustrations by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne.

As a mental health advocate, Shudufhadzo Musida told Global Citizen, “The biggest thing in prioritizing mental health is prioritizing mental health education. It is the entry point to removing the stigma that stifles sustainable development.”

The judges of the competition of the beauty event were Zozibini Tunzi, the reigning Miss Universe; Peggy-sue Khumalo, Miss SA 1996 title holder; Anele Mdoda, Leandie du Randt, and Kim Engelbrecht. Shudufhadzo appeared among Lebogang Mahlangu, Thato Mosehle, Melissa Nayimuli, and Natasha Joubert as part of the Top 5 of the beauty pageant. She later made it into the Top 3 with Thato Mosehle and Natasha Joubert. Shudufhadzo emerged as the winner of the pageant, while Thato Mosehle was the first runner-up position, and Natasha Joubert was the second runner-up place.
